Welcome to the first ever Perfect Penny Marketing (PPM) Blog. I am now in my 4th week of trading and happy to be running my own business.  My name is Jen (Tervit McDonald) and I am the owner and Marketing Kingpin of PPM.  If you have any questions about this blog or anything marketing related, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Why Perfect Penny?

I have been to a few networking events over the last couple of weeks.  When I have told people the name of my company, most people ask ‘why perfect penny’?  Well the reason behind the name goes far beyond the naming of a business. I wanted it to really mean something.

A little bit of history about me and my family. I am the youngest of 4 kids (2 big brothers and a big sister) and we were raised by our Mum. Our Mum was a single parent and full time social worker.  My Mum’s name is Penny (ah ha I hear you say!) and she was born in 1954 (sorry for telling the world how old you are Mum!).  In 1954, the Royal Mint decided not to make any pennies. This was because there were enough in circulation (although there are some theories of 1 or 2 being made and if you ever find one keep it, as it’s worth a fortune!).

I found this (the 1954 penny saga) out when I was making my Mum’s 60th birthday scrap book.  For the start, I wanted to collect all the coins from that year.  Consequently, all were found apart from the penny.  Therefore, the beginning of her scrap book said ‘In 1954 there was only one penny made, a very special penny, that was Penny Ellis’.

My Hero – My Perfect Penny

My Mum is my hero.  She raised 4 kids on her own, never really complained about anything.  Was ALWAYS there for us through the hard times.  She made it look easy, which I know it is not. I was a single parent for 6 years, with just 1 child. I knew how difficult that was, and I also had an amazing family and friends network. She had no one.

Anyway, the reason I called my business after my Mum is because I wanted to dedicate something big to her.  Show her how much I appreciate everything she has done for me and my siblings.

She is my Perfect Penny.
