In my life I have had a lot of sport. I have enjoyed sport since I was really young but never found the sport I thoroughly enjoyed. I tried lots of sports such as tennis, football, cricket, squash and swimming but never truly enjoyed one of them but one day near the end of primary 6 we done basketball for P.E. and I really enjoyed it. I wasn’t very good at it to start off with, but I continued because I enjoyed it. I continued playing for years and I still do now. I have played basketball for 2-3 years and it has been a great few years. Over the years I have just grown to love basketball even more and more.
When I started basketball
I started basketball through my primary school. I started off doing basketball in P.E. then I went to a cluster tournament with the primary school. I enjoyed it so much that I asked to join a basketball club. In the club we played competitive games and I am a very competitive person, so I really enjoyed it.
Positives about playing basketball
Some positives about playing basketball are that I have made new friends even best friends, I have learnt new things, it also has had a good impact on my mental and physical health. Basketball has showed me what I can do if I put my mind to it.
Negatives about playing basketball as a female
I would like there to be more opportunities for tournaments, training and games for females. I would also like it to be as popular as football which would help to increase girl’s participation in basketball.
Mental and physical benefits
Basketball has helped me in many different ways such as, playing in a team sport, it has helped me a lot in my confidence, my listening and taking constructive criticism. It has physically helped me by my fitness, strength and skills.
